Idea : There is a lot of way or method to sharpen students listening skill that
used by teacher, such as using a music or video to help students improve their
listening skill

Improving Students Listening Skill Using Music and Video
There
is a lot of way or method to sharpen students listening skill that used by
teacher, such as using a music or video to help students improve their
listening skill. Those method are very useful rather than just giving an
explanation, beucase it can attract the student and make the want to learn more.
By conducting a powerfull method, it may make the class activity become more
effectively. Also by using those method, students will not feel bored while
learning activity. Because listening skill is not easy to learn, which is in
listening skill students need to be focus and need more practice to gain a good
listening skill. As Tri (2017) stated:
“Listening
is one of the indispensable abilities in language. As a kind of input,
listening is the foundation of speaking and writing. If a student does not
receive effective listening input, He or She may not perform well in writing
and speaking since the two output abilities are more difficult.”
In
using a video to help students improve their skill, teacher usually using a
short video who taken from youtube, because there is a lot of teaching material
that you can find in youtube. According to Ayu (2016), Youtube is a legal
website where teacher can take a video material from there. By using Youtube,
students can pay more attention while in learning activity, because it more
attractive when students can get a better perception by watching a video. At
the end, the effect of using video from youtube can make the classroom activity
become more effectivrly either for the teacher or the students.
Music
or song can improve listening skill as a supporting item for listening. Listening
to a song also has a lot of benefit,
such as learn more new vocabularies, sharpen your pronunciation skill, and learn
about listening more effectively (Tri, 2017). Teacher sometime plays a song as
a method of teaching listening in order to make students more interest to the
learning activity. To make students more enjoy to do the learning activity,
teacher should know a kind of music that students like. In nowadays, there is a
lot of platform that can use as a music player either using a smartphone or
even a laptop. For example teacher can use Spotify platform on smartphone to
search what kind of top chart or a list of a popular song at that time.
Using
a music or video to improving students listening skill is a good method,
because both of them can attract the student to be more active while in
learning activities. Teacher can choose to use what kind of method to make the
class becom effectively by knowing the students first, whether they like
listening a music or watching a video.
